Welcome to Junior Cricket at Ealing Cricket Club. Our philosophy for Junior Cricket is “play fair, play for fun”. Our coaches and volunteers are passionate about bringing the game of cricket to as many young players as possible, irrespective of their ability level. We run cricket that’s energetic, friendly and properly inclusive: festivals, internal leagues and tournaments designed so young players of all abilities can play cricket safely, develop their skills, and leave smiling.
We field multiple teams in each age group of the Middlesex Junior Cricket Association (“MJCA”) boys and girls competitions. But what is truly special about Junior Cricket at Ealing, is our own Internal Franchise League (“IFL”), which caters for all ability levels in a unique pairs cricket format. There is a team for every ability: if a young player wants to play a game of cricket, we will have the right team and opportunity for them to thrive.
Coaching for U9s (current Year 4 and below) takes place every Friday evening at Corfton Road: group sessions and games for the kids, and a real family vibe on the sidelines – bar open, BBQ / food on, parents having a drink and a chat while the children play. It’s one of the best parts of the week.
We are also proud of the high quality of our coaching. Our Director of Cricket, Shaftab Khalid, played for England A and is one of the few Level 4 coaches around. Our wider coaching team is mostly ECB Level 2+, so all junior players get brilliant support as they grow in confidence and skill.
Summer Season 2026: some exciting changes
The Junior Cricket pages of our website have been updated and rewritten to set out exactly how we envisage all aspects of Junior Cricket at ECC will run for the summer 2026 season and beyond. We are excited to share our plans with our members and to gather your input on how we can make Junior Cricket at ECC even better in the future.
Key Dates for 2026
• Wednesday 4 March (19:00-21:00) – Pre-Season Junior Cricket Meeting
• Friday 17 April (17:00 onwards) – Season Open Day
• Sunday 19 April – IFL begins
• Sunday 21 June – U8/U9 Festival
• Sunday 28 June – IFL Festival
Volunteering at ECC
Although we do employ a small number of full time employees (one of the few Clubs in Middlesex able to do so), we remain reliant on volunteers to help to run the Club.
Managing and coaching our Junior section is an obvious area and we have many parents involved in this activity to whom we are indebted to. We always need more people to help, particularly among the younger age groups and if this is something you would like to get involved in please do reach out to Mitul, Tom, Pinal or Shaftab.
We would also love to have more women volunteers involved particularly in the Girls section where we hope to encourage more girls to continue to play, and having more female role models would be brilliant for this.
Sponsorship Opportunities
We are currently looking for sponsors for Junior Cricket at Ealing. There are several opportunities. Please do get in touch if you might be interested.
We look forward to seeing you on 4 March.
