Phoenix secured an impressive third place in the league with remarkable final league game of the season against our close friends from Trailfinders. This game we welcomed Alfred to the line-up, the first U7 aged player to play for the Phoenix this season and he was awarded his Phoenix cap at the start of the game having impressed in both the IFL and the U9Cs.

Put into bowl first (captain Joe losing the toss again!!) the Phoenix brought together all the fantastic bowling, fielding and catching they have shown all season to take an enormous 22 wickets. Jacob followed up his player of the match in the U9 game with three wickets for no runs, Dev got four but the star amongst a team of stars this week was Myles with his first ever stumping and a wonderful Hat-trick. Incredibly the boys also took a hat-trick of run outs underscoring their impressive fielding. Trailfinders never gave in and showed great spirit, finishing on 267 for 22 (net score of 157).

The batting was therefore relatively straight forward, with Simon yet again getting off to a great start with 17 not out, followed by Joe top scoring with 23 not out helping Phoenix to a decent 331 for 4 (net score 311).

This has been a superb season for the Phoenix, playing up year with some tremendous performances including an impressive win earlier in the season over South Hampstead U10A, the eventual league winners. There are a few friendlies to go, but all those wearing their Phoenix caps can be very proud of their seasons.
