A different kind of test for the boys in this game, their first on a grass wicket on a glorious summer evening (while avoiding the distraction of the England game in the Euros!)

Captain Joe, emulating Nasser Hussain, continued his run of losing every toss of the season (!) and we were put into bat first. After a slow start, we start to kick into gear with some glorious boundaries and swift running got the score going, but a steady stream of wickets kept the score in check. Still, a 320 for 8 (net score of 280) was imposing on this surface. Still, the boys would need bowl well and field tightly to win.

They did.

A real hallmark of the season has been the togetherness in the field with every bowler contributing. Some incredible stand out performances saw Anay take two wickets, Myles inducing the batter to play on, Alex take a maiden and, in player of the match performances, Kabir took three wickets on a pitch that didn't naturally favour his pace and Aayush taking two wickets without conceding a run in his two overs and getting wicked spin.

We were tight in the field again, especially from Aayush who consistently backed up effectively and Simon with another two run outs taking his season total to 12 (beating the 11 he got last year with a third of the season still to go). This helped restrict the home team to 277 for 10 (net score 227)
