After several days of cool and showery weather the Ealing boys arrived at Acton cricket club on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning and they took to the field under a cloudless blue sky.
The boys bowling was a delight to behold and you dare not take your eyes off the match as you were likely to miss a wicket being taken.
Faizan opened up our account with a fine bit of seam bowling, Ahaan then quickly followed up by clattering one straight into the timbers. Acton persevered but every step they took forward was nullified by the Ealing quicks. Freddie kept the pressure up with a corking wicket off his second delivery then Henry was into the mix and the hosts were 5 down. This pattern persisted with ten overs on the board 7 wickets had been taken Ved and Aidan adding to the dominant performance with the ball. Later in the innings Linus and Henry combined to take a great wicket with Henry pouching a fantastic catch. Karim closed things out for Ealing and a gettable target of 194 was left to chase.
The batting response was unhurried as the pressure was off, all the boys made solid contributions and only some loose shots led to some wickets for Acton, it is early in the season and they will apply greater focus down the stretch. There were some lovely boundaries and some decent shot selection. Special mention for Henry who made a Flintoffesque cameo with the ball being dispatched all around the ground.
A satisfying win with Ealing getting 253.
Well done boys a lot of positives to be taken out of the day and the standard of bowling bodes well for the rest of the summer.
