Ealing U12A’s came into the match having already won their league. However, we wanted to make sure that we ended the league season with a win. We played our U12B’s in the final league game of the season. We won the toss and chose to bat first.
The opening batsmen, Rohan and Armaan, were off to a very good start. They were able to capitalise on the short balls and were still able to rotate strike on the good balls. Rohan was retired after scoring 26. Since Armaan was nearing his 50, he stayed in as Nathan made his way to the crease. Armaan was retired after a terrific innings of 51*. Nathan and Ryaan were batting as the score was 104-0 after 11.1 overs. Ryaan’s wicket then fell as he looked to step across his stumps to the leg-spinner Imaad. He was given out LBW.
Nick and Nathan batted the overs out and put on a great batting show as they put their foot on the pedal. The last few overs went for quite a few runs. Then, in the last over, Nick hit 2 sixes off the first two balls then 2 fours. This resulted in a quick 50 for Nick and a good knock of 34 for Nathan.
We ended on 211-1 after 20 overs. We got off to a good start with the bowling as James and Harry were tight and restricted runs. This also resulted in 3 wickets. Imaad and Noah were able to stabilize the inning as Imaad took his time and Noah went big. Then, Max took the 2 important wickets of both Noah and Imaad, leaving them to be 71-5 after 17 overs.
We went on to win the game as the U12B’s finished on 88-5 after 20 overs. James took 3 wickets in 4 overs and had an economy of 1.25. Max also took 3 wickets in 3 overs and only gave 13 runs.
