Rain ruins proceedings after 8 overs

The game was played with the following rules:

Each innings starts on 200
Each pair bats for 4 overs
Each bowler bowls 2 overs each
'Wides' give away 2 runs respectively and are not rebowled
'No balls' are ignored
Lose 5 runs for each wicket

Ealing travelled to Acton CC on a grim and wet Sunday morning. The forecast was not very promising but my counterpart at Acton asked for the game to go ahead and see what happens. Freddie, our captain for the day called incorrectly at the toss and we were asked to bat first. The rain hadn't quite started but there were signs in the clouds that this may happen soon enough. Zuhayr and Tanush opened the batting and got us off to a flier. They scored 45 runs in the first 4 overs, which included the first ever 'six' witnessed by this age group. Zuhayr latched onto a short delivery which was sitting up nicely for him to pull over the boundary flag at square leg. He finished on 38 runs. However, he was gifted some runs by a couple of poor overthrows which flew to the boundary. Freddie and Conleth were the next pair to come in and this is where Acton obtained their first wicket, with a caught and bowled against Freddie in the 5th over. However, Freddie more than made up for the wicket, by scoring 14 runs, which included three 'fours'. At the end of the 8th over, the heavens opened up and it was decided ten minutes later to call the game off

At the end of the 8th over, Ealing had scored 271 for 1, with the following individual scores:

Zuhayr K (38)
Tanush W (3)
Freddie W (14)
Conleth (8)

Individual stats" will not" be updated because the game was abandoned.
