Ealing hosted Acton on what was a glorious evening and played a game which turned out to be a thriller. Unfortunately, we ended up on the wrong side of the result, but the kids will hopefully have learnt a lot from it. Unfortunately, our batting let us down. Some poor shot selection and bad running between the wickets architected our own downfall. Having said this, we scored regurlarly and played some cracking shots, but lost a total of 11 wickets in the process. That meant 55 runs were deducted from our total score. In the end, we posted 279 runs from our 20 overs
We knew we had to bowl well to win this game and I was pleased with the fight we showed in the field. Our bowlers stepped up to the task and fought right to the end. We were well in the game even into the last over the match. Unfortunately, at this point their batsman capitalised on a couple of slightly short deliveries which ended up crossing the boundary line. This got Acton to the required target of 280 and they only needed to block the last two balls to win the match, which they did with ease. Thus winning the game by 1 run
So all in all, we under performed with the bat, but bowled and fielded respectively. But the reality is, we didn't get the result we were looking for, and Acton fully deserved the victory. We must congratulate them on the win and come back stronger in the next game
