SHCC chose an interesting format for the game, with 6 pairs and 3 overs a pair. This gave us a chance to give some of the Gubby team a warm up for next weekend as well as bring in some extra players, including some of our U9s. It did make scoring and arranging the bowling line up a little more challenging though!
Put in to bat first, we put in a steady, if not spectacular performance. Ted and Rian were the top scoring pair with 19 and we batted consistently through the order, with only a couple of suicidal run outs to keep us below 300. Bowling and fielding were excellent though. Shivan, taking 3 wickets for 1 run, was the star, closely followed by TK with 2 for 4. We took a number of good catches and it was a tight performance throughout, with very few extras conceded, and we won in the end by over 100 runs.
The U9s joining the side were excellent, bowled really well, and looked like they would beat many an U10 team!
