Having topped the MCA South league, the team were hoping to make the area final. Whilst they put in a fantastic performance on the day, we sadly just missed out, when 3 teams were tied at the top and the result went down to run rate.
We started slowly against a very sharp Richmond side, looked a bit nervous with the shorter format game, and unfortunately lost the first match. The team showed great character to come back from that and win our remaining games, improving with each innings. In our final game against Eastcote, they put in a tremendous performance, with both sides playing some excellent cricket, to win the match and take the group to a tie. Sadly it wasn't quite enough as, when the scores were counted up, Eastcote had the higher average runs / wicket.
All the boys played well. Rian was the top scorer and TK's bowling was excellent. James R hit some great shots against Eastcote, including a huge 6. Jack A's wicket keeping was excellent throughout, including 2 stumpings off Monty's bowling. Ted got a good couple of wickets and was consistent with the bat. Isaac and Shivan were top class as always.
Whilst it's a shame to come so close, the team (and squad) have had a great season and it promises well for next year.
