Despite this being a rare loss so far this season, it was a very good performance against one of the stronger sides we've faced to date. Missing several players to a Borough match and against a side with a number of their own Borough players, the team stepped up well to the challenge. Having put Eastcote in to bat, we soon found that the pitch sloping away to each side of the wicket offered a lot of opportunity for 4s, and their opening batsmen exploited that very well. However wickets from Husain, Jacob, Harry and Jack M helped restrict the middle order and tail and we were set a tough but reachable total of 293 to win.
With the bat, we also managed to hit a lot of 4s, even against some very good bowling, with Rian and Harry top scoring. However their fielding was strong and some impressive catches restricted our score. Going into the final few overs we had slightly too big a gap to close and lost a couple more wickets trying to chase down the total. However it was an encouraging overall performance that showed the depth of talent in the squad.
