Ealing U13 Girls played Spencer CC this morning in the ECB Lady Taverners National Cup.
We headed south in the rain, expecting to turn around and come home, but the pitch was surprisingly firm, the rain relented and the match was played.
Asked to bat, Ealing got off to a brilliant start with Hannah Leathem making 40 inside the first 10 overs, before contributions from Hope Lindsay, Meghna Nandi and Niamh Reilly took the Ealing total to an above par 102 for 5 in our 20 overs.
The Ealing Girls needed to bowl and fielded well to back up their excellent batting. And, like the U15s on Friday evening, the girls rose to the occasion again with accurate bowling backed up with great fielding, resulting in 3 run outs.
Spencer slumped from 49 for 2 to 52 for 7 to leave Ealing winners by 50 runs.
Yet again the strength in depth of the Ealing Girls showed through and what what looked on paper like a tough tie ended up as a comfortable win.
