The 15Bs put up an excellent perfomance against a very strong 15A side fielding a team of County and Borough players. Batting first the As were restricted by some good, steady bowling and moved the score along to 65 for 1 after 10 overs, the only wicket to fall, Josh Chippendale run out when his partner failed to respond to call leaving him stranded mid wicket.
Mid way through the innings the Bs unleashed their secret weapon, Fran Cambell, first bowling Ned Leonard and then having Yusef Ahmed caught at mid off in her first over. From there wickets steadily fell, to Iona Fairhead, Ben Harris, Osamma and Riyan. Without a late swashbuckling 46 from Jack Leathem, the innings would have been distictly below par. As finished on 148 for 8. Bs 4 bowling bonus points.
In reply, the Bs got off to the worst possible start, Shub Patel falling to an LBW decision in the first over. From then on the task was to try and score as many runs as possible while preserving wickets. These fell steadily and the Bs reached the 10 over mark, not far behind the As at 59 for 4. Ossama Aslam making sure that the boundaries came steadily, supported at the opposite end by Dylan Grant.
However, the late push did not materialize, and despite Ossama reaching his 50 in excelelnt style, making sure the fielding side had trouble locating the ball in the Hanwell hedgerows, the end was always going to be disappointing for the Bs. When he departed in the penultimate over, they had reached 104, just a few runs short of the 4th batting bonus point.
The performances of the u15 Girls, Fran and Iona, has warranted an invitation back at any time.
A good all round performance against a tough team. Well done everyone.
