In the final game of the season Ealing hosted Shepherds Bush, with the match being a dead rubber it could have been expected that both sides would have taken it lightly, but this was not the case.
Ealing won the toss and elected to field, a decision that looked a good one after two early wickets left ‘Bush at 7-2.
The visitors started to rebuild and found themselves with platform to push for a big score at 205-5. However, thanks to some tight bowling and a couple of good bits fielding for run outs meant they were bowled out for 238.
Scott Ensom finished the pick of bowlers with 4-53, Chad Barrett also took 2-40.
In reply, the hosts started well with Tom Shaw and Barrett reaching 58 before the first wicket fell. The loss of 3 more wickets meant the hosts had reached 104-4 and the game was in the balance. Anand Ashok and Chris Wakefield set about rebuilding, and having reached 164 Ealing were favourites.
But 4 quick wickets for only 9 runs made the task too great and Ealing were eventually dismissed for 211.
A disappointing end to the season but one to take a number of positives from. Ealing finished second in the league and will be looking to go one better next year.
