30th June saw the Men from Ealing travel west to Henley in the group final of the National cup. Initial thoughts as the players arrived at Henley were that it was gonna be a high scoring game as the ground was small on one side and the wicket looked flat.
As per usual Ealing lost the toss and were put in to bat. The Wilkin Brothers opened up for the first time this year and they got us off to a flyer with Mylo getting 71 off 51 balls and Oli scoring 85 off 78 balls. Bailey Capel join Oli scoring 56 at just over one a ball, with a few wickets falling within a short space of time the Emen only managed to post 287 which we felt was a competitive score and with runs on the board in a cup game.
In response Henley got off to a flyer keeping up with the required rate. Enter Mungo Russell with a spell of 8 overs 4 for 23 he turned the game completely in ealings favour with the help of skipper Kristian Martin picking up 3 wickets aswell. Henley ended 159 all out and Ealing had won far more comfortably than expected. Ealing are due to face clevedon cc on the 21st July.
