Please take note of permitted access times...

Many members want to use the Club’s Nets Facilities at Corfton Road (CR Nets) outside of their scheduled training sessions. However, please can members take note that they may not use the CR Nets when the ground is being used by the Club for the Club’s training sessions or any other organised Club activities, including our holiday courses.

As there are training sessions on each weekday evening up to end of July, the use of the CR Nets will be restricted. The use of the CR Nets by members is not permitted at the following times:

• Mondays - 5.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m.
• Tuesdays - 6.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m.
• Wednesdays - 5.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m.
• Thursdays - 6.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m.
• Fridays - 4.00 p.m. – 8.00 p.m.

And, during the school holidays, including during the upcoming half term, the CR Nets will not be available during holiday courses, i.e. from 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. The courses generally run from Monday to Thursdays during the May Half Term and Summer school holidays.

This will mean that mid week usage up to the end of July will be limited.

We will send out a further message in mid July when the holiday courses commence clarifying the position for the rest of the season.

Some members seem to think, even though there is an organised training session or other Club activity going on where the CR Nets are not being used at some point in the session, that it is OK for them to use the Nets. Please can I be very clear on this point. The CR Nets may not be used at all by members during organised training sessions, or other Club activities, whether the Nets are being used or not, unless they are involved in the training session or other activities.

On weekends, there is more scope for members to use the CR Nets, albeit this will need to be restricted in the period prior to Senior matches on Saturdays and, on Sundays, during the U5 training session and the Sunday Coaching Club activities, which run from 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon on Sundays.

As above, on Saturday mornings, the CR Nets will be restricted, depending on which Senior team is playing at home that day and at what time the match is starting:
For 1st XI matches, starting at 12 noon, the 6 full size Nets at CR WILL NOT be available between 10.00 am and 11.30 am

For 1st XI matches, starting at 11.00 a.m., the 6 full size Nets at CR WILL NOT be available between 9.00 a.m. and 10.30 a.m.

For 2nd XI, which start at 12.30 p.m., the 6 full size Nets at CR WILL NOT be available between 11.00 a.m. and 12 noon

• The 2 Junior Nets at CR will be available during the periods specified above, but, if they are needed to be used by the Senior Cricketers who will be playing in the match that is about to start, we would ask that members give way to the Senior cricketers. We would hope that instances of this will be rare.

Members should check on the Club’s website which Senior team is playing on any Saturday and should be aware at what time the match is scheduled to start.

At all times, during this period, children must be accompanied by an adult and both adults and children need to be aware of the significant safety risk entailed with children using the Nets at the same time as the Senior cricketers.

If members use the CR Nets at any time, they need to consider the risks involved in using the Nets and should be alert at all times and bear in mind and pay attention to what is going on in the other Nets.

If members are using the Nets while any match is being played, we would ask that, if a ball strays onto the field of play, the balls are only retrieved by adults and then only during a break in play so that the retrieval of the ball does not disrupt the match in any way.

In addition, as in the past, the Nets at Popesfield are unfortunately not available for use by members at any time outside of the Club’s organised training sessions and in One on One lessons with the Club’s coaches.

It is not practicable for us to have a booking system controlling the use of the Nets. We don’t have the available staff to take bookings or to monitor the use of the Nets. We could perhaps contemplate this, if we were to charge for the use of the Nets, but we are disinclined to do this.

We hope, with expanded facilities, there will be plenty of room for all at the times when the Nets are available. And, where the CR Nets are being used by others, we expect that members will co-operate to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to practice.
