Welcome to the Trustees' New Appointment

In September 2023, it was announced that James Grigg, Chair of the Trustees of Ealing Cricket Club, had informed the Trustees that he intended to retire as the Chair of Trustees.

Following this announcement, a number of members indicated their interest in becoming the new Chair of Trustees. The Trustees interviewed the prospective candidates and reached the unanimous view that David Holt was the outstanding candidate for the position.

The Trustees have now formally appointed David as a Trustee and elected him to be the Chair of the Trustees. David’s appointment will be subject to ratification by the members of the Club at next year’s AGM, which is expected to be held in late March or early April 2024.

David has been involved in Ealing Cricket Club since an early age. He was an outstanding Junior cricketer at the Club and then became a regular 1st XI player and a key member of the team that won 7 Middlesex Premier League titles in a row. He was 1st XI captain for 5 years, winning the National Club T20 championship in 2011 and three Middlesex League titles in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and was subsequently appointed as Club Captain.

He retired as a player at the end of the 2023 season, but he is keen to continue to make a significant contribution to the Club. The Trustees believe he will be just as effective as a leader than he was on the field of play.

James has now stepped down from his role as Chair of Trustees, and as Secretary of the Club. His future role at the Club has not yet been decided, however he has indicated that he may continue as a Trustee, at least for a period of time, in order to support David and to facilitate an orderly transition of his responsibilities.
