On a scorching Sunday morning the Ealing boys opened the batting on a very dry and steeply sloping Eastcote pitch.
The boys were full of confidence in the build up but soon found themselves up against an Eastcote side full of quality and energy in the field. All the boys stuck manfully to the task with Freddie M making a couple of boundaries, but after 15 overs the score was still only 258 for 8.
Eastcote kept applying pressure in the latter stages and runs for the Ealing faithful were hard to come by and a few late wickets meant we left our hosts with a gettable 251.
Eastcote went after the score in a very calm and composed fashion and they soon had 246 on the board. Ealing worked hard but a breakthrough seemed unlikely.
But suddenly the match came to life, in quick succession ;
Zach took a wicket to stem the runs
Freddie M soon followed up with the wicket
Harry T took a super catch behind the stumps
Freddie M held a tricky catch
Ahaan then came through with a lovely c & b
This brought the game back on a more even keel. But in fairness to Eastcote they kept calm and carried on adding runs on a steady basis. Ridmeet and Zach combined for a late wicket but it was not enough to prevent a well deserved victory for the hosts.
Well done to all the Ealing boys for sticking at it and going on through tough conditions right to the end of the match.
