Ealing CC’s under 13’s rounded off a season of outstanding success in winning the Middlesex County League by beating old rivals Sunbury by 10 wickets in pulsating final at NPL Teddington on Sunday.
Having won the South area league, Ealing had progressed to the final weekend by winning two knock-out rounds, and faced
This was too much for
The final against Sunbury had the added spice of Sunbury bursting for revenge, having been beaten by Ealing by one run in the Middlesex Cup final in July. Tight bowling restricted Sunbury to 21 for 1 off the first 6 overs, but then young prodigy Bradley Erasmus seemed to have taken the game away from Ealing with a rapid 95, leaving a daunting target of 146 to win.
Promoted in the batting order to provide the necessary fast start, Jamie Spanswick had other ideas. Mixing glorious straight drives with brutal pulling and hooking, he struck 12 fours and 4 sixes in an innings of 100 n.o.. With Louie Millman playing the anchor role with 41 n.o., the runs were knocked off in the 16th over.

Manager Charles Dewhurst said: 'To have won the double and finished runners-up in the National Finals is a brilliant achievement, but no more than these boys deserve. They play good, attacking cricket, and demonstrate the old adage that cricket is a team game, with everyone contributing.'
Ealing wins the tournament for Ealing for the 4th consecutive year!!
Congratulations to the boys who played in the Teddington U13 7’s tournament - Jai Hutchinson, Oscar Jenkyn-Jones, Benedict Chippendale, Sam Turner, Tom Hodge, Thomas Saunders, Charles Seddon and Jamie Sargin.
It was a particularly impressive achievement as 7 of the 8 boys who played today were U12s against teams of mostly U13 boys. It was a team effort with all 8 boys contributing with the bat, ball and in field at various times. The professionalism and technical skill of our boys stood us apart from the other clubs and bodes well for the boys stepping into the very large shoes of the current U13s next season.
