The Trustees are pleased to announce the appointment of Chad Barrett as the Director of Cricket with effect from 1 March 2018

Chad will be responsible for all Senior and Junior Cricket at the Club.

Chad is an outstanding coach and a former first class cricketer.

He has recently completed the ECB Level 4 coaching programme, being the youngest person ever to complete this course. In recent years, he has been running his own coaching business with great success and he has also been acting as Lead Fast Bowling Coach for the Northamptonshire CCC Academy and as a consultant Coach for the MCC Young Cricketers. Previously he has worked at Primrose Hill CC and Radlett CC where he set up and ran Colts coaching programmes.

Chad made a century on his debut for Northamptonshire CCC in 2016, albeit he is perhaps better known as a right arm fast bowler leading the attack. He has played over 15 1st XI and 120 2nd XI matches for Northamptonshire, Sussex and Durham and has played Premier League Club cricket for Radlett CC and Bishops Stortford CC in recent seasons.

Chad is highly organised, passionate about cricket and has a huge ambition to succeed. The Trustees are confident that he will be an inspiration to both Senior and Junior cricketers at the Club.

The role of Director of Cricket was a newly created position in 2016. Chad is succeeding Tom Morton, who resigned in December 2017 to take up the role of Head Coach at Wiltshire CCC. Tom was an excellent Director of Cricket, having established a strong foundation that Chad will build upon over the next few years.

In terms of Senior Cricket, the Trustees have asked Chad to ensure that there is a positive and enjoyable playing environment for all playing members and to lead a cricket culture of continual commitment and improvement as well as playing within the Spirit of Cricket. An important part of his role will be to ensure that Colts continue to be integrated effectively into Senior Cricket and to provide guidance and mentorship to all Senior captains.

Junior Cricket, which is such an important part of the Club and its future, will also be overseen by Chad, who will play an active part in all aspects of Colts cricket at the Club. He will ensure, in conjunction with Colts Managers and other coaches, a safe and friendly environment for all Colts and manage the professional coaches at the Club to ensure that a structured training programme is implemented effectively at all levels.

The Club, via its subsidiary, Premier Cricket Coaching Ltd, also runs cricket courses at the Club during school holidays and on Sunday mornings. This business was established in 2016 and Chad is charged with taking it to the next level, expanding participation and increasing the services we provide to cater for boys and girls of differing ages and abilities.

Chad joins the Club at an exciting time. We have just enjoyed one of the most successful years ever for Senior Cricket and our 150th anniversary is only 2 years away. The Trustees feel confident that Chad will take the Club forward, building on its traditions as well as keeping ECC as one of the leading cricket clubs in the country.
