The game began with a strange feeling of deja vu from our first Gubby match, as we again had to start with only 5 batsmen, whilst people were stuck in traffic. Luckily the scoreline also maintained our winning run in the cup from that match, though our batting was given a sterner test than in many previous matches against some good Acton bowling.
Adi and Isaac got the scoring well underway, though their total of 18 was lower than usual following a spate of uncharacteristic run outs. The other pairs scored consistently, though at a lower rate than usual, and a couple of late wickets kept our total to a slightly concerning 278. Luckily the fielding performance was probably our best so far, helped by some risky running from Acton as they tried to chase down the total, leading to 7 run outs (another direct hit from Isaac being the highlight) and one stumping (a great effort from Jack A at wicketkeeper). With some consistent and generally accurate bowling bringing another 5 wickets, and with some enthusiastic encouragement of his team by captain Ludo, we eventually won by 60 runs.
