Having lost the fifth toss in a row Ealing were yet again put into bat. A decision that Finchley would soon regret as E-men piled on the runs on another sunny Saturday afternoon.
Both Fairburn and Rishi again got the E’s off to a positive start but after they had both departed it was the Wakers and Sarg show as the two showed no mercy to the Finchley bowling attack finding the gaps and clearly the ropes with ease. Sarg not content with a joint second place on the sixes league added four more to his tally giving him clear daylight at the top of the table.
Wakers batted with consummate easy to push himself past a well deserved three figure score highlighting the difference in class between himself and the opposition attack. Wakers was finally out for 100 and Adrian Sargant out for a belligerent 72 with Ealing finishing on a commanding 307 for 5 off 49 overs.
Finchely’s batting never got out of the blocks. Richard Chatterton got his choice of ends and used it to full effect taking the wickets of three of the top six Finchley batsman including their Aussie opener to a fine catch by Faraz on the drive. Chats was well supported by Raminder Singh who bowled with good control taking two keys wickets. Faraz and Henderson then came on to wrap up the Finchley innings with Faraz finishing with figures of 3-1-2-3 and Henderson 2 for 9.
So a good old fashioned swording at the hands of the E-Men.
Right I’m off to take a sh*t
Till next time
