Top of the league and on a roll, we faced bottom placed Acton at home on a lovely sunny Saturday at the ECG. Not only did Holty inspire a seam-team 2-1 thriller in warm-up football, but he also won the toss and we were in the field. It wasn’t long before the first wicket, T trapping their opener leg-before in the third over.

The next also fell to the left-armer as number two lobbed it to cover, and then it was capitulation from the newly relegated side who lost their next eight wickets for 41 runs as we bowled them out for 47 in 22.1 overs.

Tahir was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with brilliant figures over 11 ? 2 ? 26 ? 6. He was well supported by Kish with nine overs 2 ? 10 and Leigh two overs 2 -5. With just nineteen minutes to go before lunch Sammy and Hawky went out to try and knock off the runs before lunch. All claims of a dodgy wicket were quashed within a couple of overs, boundaries coming freely and in style. All was going to plan until with just five to win Hawky was bowled, but Sammy’s trademark extra-cover smash saw us to another 10 points in exactly two hours.
