U13a v Chiswick & Latymer - Home
League match

Ealing won by 24 runs

Match report

Ealing batted first and Stefan and Armaan got us off to a solid start before Armaan's untimely departure brought Munjot to the middle at 14 for 1. Runs then started to flow freely with Stefan (23 from 20 balls), Ciaran (46 from just 25 balls) and Harry (18 not out from 15 balls including a Dilshan scoop) wreaking havoc. Munjot (45 from 48 balls) held the innings together and we finished on 157 for 3.

With an unconventional bowling attack we didn't exert as much control as usual with the ball: 29 wides and 4 no balls helped to keep the C&L innings ticking along. Arjun bowled with speed (and picked up a wicket thanks to Stefan's sharp slip catch); Kosmy bowled tidily; Louis and Oliver took the pace off the ball; Freddie chipped in with 3 wickets - one courtesy of a spectacular full length dive and catch by Ciaran; and Armaan picked up another 2 towards the end. C&L finished on 133 for 6 so we won by 24 runs.

Well done to the entire squad for completing an unbeaten league campaign. We now pass to the county knock out competition. Our first match has to be completed in the next 4 weeks or so, but it will take a little while before we know who we face. Congratulations also to the Ealing U13B team who won their match this evening against Shepherd's Bush and thereby took second place in the league and earn a place in the play offs for the county knock out as well - a great achievement for a team of U12s (and younger).

I'll let you know as soon as we have any more information on the knock out. In the meantime I'm hoping to arrange a couple of friendlies, including an U13A v U13B match in the next week or two.

Tonight's team:

Stefan Tsang
Armaan Malek
Munjot Rajasansir
Ciaran Jordan
Harry Fuller
Samuel Allen
Arjun Tendulkar
Freddie Greenwood
Louis Pincott
Kosmy Vaygelt
Oliver Simpson

MOTM goes to Ciaran for scoring 46 from just 25 balls and taking a fine catch to boot. Nice one.
