Match Report

The Ealing U13Bs got off the a winning start last night by beating South Hampstead by 18 runs in a low scoring match reduced to 15 overs due to the late arrival of their coach.  Ealing 74 all out in 14.1 overs;  South Hampstead 56 for 7 in 15 overs.  

Batting first, we scored a disappointing 74 all out.   Whilst South Hampstead’s bowling was quite accurate, most of the boys contributed to their dismissals by playing poor shots or through poor calling.   Only 2 batsmen got to double figures ? William Taylor (16) and Sam Turner (15).   However, the boys redeemed themselves with a strong all-round bowling and fielding performance restricting South Hampstead to just 56 runs for 7 wickets off their 15 overs.  Bowling honours go to Arthur Godsal with 3 wickets for 7 runs off 3 overs and Tom Hodge with 1 wicket for just 4 runs off his 3 overs.   Clearly, the batting will have to improve very significantly if we are to compete with the stronger teams in our league!
