Match Report

With 5 U11s in the side, we knew that it would be a big challenge against our strongest opponents in the U13 league other than our own Ealing “A” side.  However, we put up a very brave fight and could easily have won the match.

Bowling first, all our bowlers put in a very credible performance.  Particularly strong bowling from Jamie (3-17), Charlie (2-12) combined with some excellent fielding including an incredible catch by George saw us restrict Perivale to 99-8 from their 20 overs.  The fielding of Daniel - who stood in at the last minute - at long leg was particularly impressive.

We knew that we would have to bat very well against a very strong bowling attack.  After losing a couple of quick early wickets, Sam (42) and Jack (13) pushed the score along rapidly and we reached 50 in just over 8 overs well ahead of the run rate. However, when Sam fell to a great catch, the run rate stalled and we scored just 5 runs off the next 6 overs consistently losing wickets along the way. Aside from a few quick runs from Stefan in the last over, we were unable to build on the excellent start and ended our innings at 70-9.
