Match Report |
An exciting match ended in a tie with both team finishing on exactly the same score after their 20 overs. Ealing lost the toss and were invited to bat first. DIsaster struck with Nesha Cook bowled by a good ball off the first ball of the match, but our girls batted steadily to rebuild the innings against some good North London bowling. We did miss quite a lot of opportunities to score with balls outside the leg stump not being hit. And we ended with a total of 83 for 4. I said to the girls when we went out to bowl that this was a fairly low total and we would need to bowl well to defend it. We started well with only 23 runs off the first 8 overs, before North London picked up the pace. With 5 overs to go, 22 were needed, but great catches by Ashani Benning and Mia Lindsay stalled North London. The last over saw only 4 runs needed, but a greater over by skipper Ashani Benning saw only 3 runs conceded and the match end in a tie. Another excellent bowling performance from the Ealing girls, with the highlight being a debut performance by Sophie Dyson who took 3 for 12. A great game enjoyed by players, spectators and coaches alike. And Ealing, given the inexperience of our side, did very well.
