Match Report

With 32 girls unavailable, Ealing's team was very inexperienced and only had 9 players, of which 4 were Year 4s.

Despite this, the Ealing girls put up a great effort.

Winning the toss and asking Ickenham to bat, Ealing got an early wicket with a good catch by Ashani Benning off Sapna Joshi's bowling. but we struggled to make inroads thereafter and good running between the wickets by Ickenham meant their total continued to build.

Ickenham clearly have a slightly different philosophy to us and only 7 of their 10 players got the opportunity to bat.

They closed their innings at 100 in their 20 overs. All the Ealing girls had a bowl, with Maya Dhillon conceding only 8 runs from 4 overs, including one maiden and only one wide.

With 9 batsmen, the chase was always going to be hard. This became more difficult when Ashani Benning had to retire hurt with a sore knee. But the Ealing girls battled on and with 5 overs to go, only 30 were needed. But Ickenham bowled with good control and we fell just 14 runs short of the target.

This was an excellent effort from our young side.
