But parents may attend in certain circumstances

Under guidance from the Government and the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Club’s Governing Body, spectators at cricket activities are not currently permitted.

The guidance is as follows:

Spectators are not currently permitted at Step 2

This does not apply to carers for people with disabilities, adults needed to supervise under-18s in a safeguarding role or patrons attending the venue for hospitality.

Where it is necessary for them to be present, supervising adults should not mix with others from outside their household or support bubble.

In the FAQ provided by the ECB, the advice is:

Are parents allowed to attend organised cricket activities?

Parents/guardians and carers can be present under the following exemptions:

  • carers for people with disabilities
  • adults needing to supervise under-18s in a supervisory/safeguarding role, the supervising adults should always follow rules on social distancing. No child attending an organised activity should be made to feel unduly anxious because their parent/guardian/carer is not close by. This is a safeguarding issue and so a single suitable adult can be in attendance for a child’s activities if required. The adult should stay for as short a time as possible and remain socially distanced from other adults, at all times.

The Club’s policy is therefore that spectators should not attend matches or training sessions. However, parents may attend training sessions or matches as spectators, if they feel that their child might be anxious if one of their parents was not close by. In this situation, we would ask that only one parent attend and that they remain distanced from the cricket activities and socially distanced from any other parents who may be present.

Any parent who is present for a match or a training session at Corfton Road or Popesfield must check in on arrival using the available NHS QR Code Posters that will be available at these grounds.

When cricket activities return to the outfield at Corfton Road, parents and other spectators will be able to sit in the outdoor bar area of the pavilion and watch the cricket activities, subject to following the rules relating to the operation of the bar, which can be seen at the following link - Bar Re-opening

It is very important that any parents attending as spectators, as above, do not become involved in the cricket activities. If you feel you need to provide support to your child, please ensure that the child comes to you rather than you enter the group of children who are engaged in the cricket activities.

We ask for everyone’s co-operation in this regard. You will understand that our focus is on the cricket activities and we do not want to be diverted by having to deal with parents and others who are not prepared to follow the rules that the Government and ECB have laid down.
